We all see patterns everywhere. Our eyes and minds are hard wired to recognise patterns even where there is nothing. This is why we all love to look at an image where loads of everyday objects are repeating in order. A row of tables from a low angle. Concentric circles rippling around in a lake. The goal of these exercises will be to create a simple object: a bottle cap, a rope etc and texture it, shade it in an interesting, eye catching way. Realism is the main thing here and then scatter these around in a geometric manner. Rows of the same thing. Rope spiralling around. Geometric lines criss crossing the image. The result here should resemble something like cubism, shapes thrown together in a pleasing manner.
Potentially this series of images could also be animated. Motion graphics was always something that captured my imagination and these types of images and shapes and forms lend themselves nicely for some simple motion graphics I could experiment with.
