For those who are more or less familiar with my artwork this is no surprise. I love ancient statues, the contraposto, the elegance of movement and realism is something I admire. I love to recreate these sculptures for fun and for practice and feel that it can be an engaging image if I add something a little bit extra.
This series of images will be like the Samson and the Christmas lights statue I did last year. I made that statue years ago but last December I dropped a sweater on top for fun, made the pose a bit more contemporary. This is my base line: Venus de Milo wearing Coco Chanel, the Dying Gaul in football uniform faking an injury. And so on, modern themes reenacted by ancient statues.
I might grab some of the statues from online, my main desire is not to model something fancy (although I might do if no 3D asset is available), but the focus will be on lights, composition and mood. Some very dramatic images can be created with these great statues so I would like to do that and practice that skill.
